Find romantic getaways while on your gap year.

Even if you’re already working abroad on your gap year celebrating Valentine’s Day by visiting one of the classic romantic destinations is still an option.

Venice is of course one of the most romantic destinations to visit with your loved one. From gondoliers to fantastic architecture, luxurious hotels and wonderful restaurants, you can’t fail to have a romantic getaway in Italy.

Paris is one of the most romantic places in the world and well known as the city of love. Many couples make the pilgrimage simply to climb the Eiffel Tower and some even receive a proposal at the top. There’s also a unlimited choice of food available in the city so a romantic dinner on the streets of Monmartre is bound to be impressive.

The Lake District – There’s no need to even travel abroad when one of the beautiful areas of the world is right on your doorstep. For those of you who’ve never experienced the intense sunsets over the vast lakes, or clear starry skies at night over the mountains, then put it on your list of places to visit. And there are plenty of places to stay with cosy open fires to cuddle up together too.

No one can argue that the white beaches, crystal clear waters and pretty huts in the Maldives aren’t romantic either. As a dream destination for many lovers there’s nowhere more suitable for relaxing. From lagoons, reefs, and exotic food the islands in the Indian Ocean offer the perfect hideaway for honeymooners.

If your idea of a Valentine’s Day treat is taking your other half to the shops, then why not jet off to New York for a weekend. You can spend the day browsing the many amazing stores then catch a Broadway Show or dine out until the early hours.
