Exploring the Silk Road with Oasis Overland and a Film Crew
Oasis Overland specialise in exploratory journeys for the more adventurous traveller. They are launching a brilliant new one-off expedition along the famous Silk Road which begins in June 2012.
This is a brand new route for Oasis Overland, and will involve two overland vehicles, one for a film crew who will document the journey and one for travellers who may find themselves on Japanese TV!
The professional Japanese film crew will record the expedition’s progress along ancient trading routes and through some of the oldest cities in the world steeped in history and legend, from Troy and Esfahan to Samarkand and the Great Wall.
Oasis Overland’s custom built expedition trucks will carry cinematographers and travellers who have a hands-on involvement in the trip, shopping at local markets and cooking for the group. Each truck will be accompanied by an Oasis Overland driver and tour leader.
One of the company’s Directors, Chris Wrede comments “We are glad to continue our tradition of offering travellers the chance to be part of pioneering new Oasis Overland routes. For those who join us, it’s an exciting challenge to be involved in a trip where things do not always go according to plan. It’s a chance to try out something completely new with the security of travelling with an experienced and responsible operator. And in this case you have the added bonus of a film crew capturing all those memorable experiences!”
Few operators offer this expedition as logistics can be difficult. This kind of trip can be affected by border closures, changes in visa requirements and impassable roads. For most people, this is all part of the experience and Oasis Overland is proud to be able to offer this expedition to travellers who are looking for a truly adventurous journey.
The Exploratory Silk Road Expedition lasts 15 weeks and goes through Turkey, Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and China. The trip starts in Istanbul on the 6th June 2012 and ends Beijing 18th Sep 2012.
The costs are £3350 + US$1900 local payment. Price includes transport, accommodation, some meals and activities and a DVD of the trip footage. Price does not include flights, visas and optional excursions.
