Wednesday 23rd March 2011

Oasis Overland launches new adventure tour across South America

Oasis Overland is launching a new adventure tour with a little extra comfort – a 12 week overland journey across South America with two thirds of the accommodation in hotels and hostels.

’Quito to Rio Carnival – Primero’ costs £3499 plus a local payment of US$1590.  The trip starts in Quito on 1st December and will celebrate Christmas in the Inca city of Cuzco, New Year in Bolivia and Rio will be reached on 22nd February 2012, in time for the biggest party in the world - Carnival.

Oasis Overland operates tours and expeditions aimed at the budget traveller and usually the majority of accommodation is camping.  This trip still holds true to the company’s ethos of providing affordable, adventurous tours – the trip cost is low and the journey itself is of long duration with some long days on rough roads to remote places.

The route takes in Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina and Brazil, travelling through the Andes, across the Altiplano and Patagonia and passing deserts, volcanoes, glaciers and pampas grasslands.

Travellers can trek the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, look a condor in the eye at Colca Canyon, explore Lake Titicaca and the Bolivian Salt Flats and see the thundering Iguazu Falls by boat or helicopter.

Travel is by Oasis Overland’s custom built expedition vehicle and the trip is led by two experienced crew.  The hotels and hostels are small and locally owned and the majority of nights under canvas are in campsites with occasional free camps.

• The price includes all transport, accommodation (including 5 nights in Rio during Carnival), camping equipment and some meals plus the Lake Titicaca boat tour and 4x4 jeep tour of the Salt Flats.
• The price does not include flights, the Inca Trail trek and other optional activities.
