Crystal International Academy Experiences
Crystal International Academy
A selection of gap year experiences from gappers on a Crystal International Academy course.
I decided to spend part of my gap year on a Crystal International Academy course and chose Whistler as it’s somewhere I’d never visited before and is almost as far away from home as I could possibly get. I can definitely say this course exceeded all of my expectations and have had more fun than I could have ever imagined with people I didn’t know before. I’ve met people from so many different backgrounds and lifestyles which have changed the way I look at a lot of things, all this made the living part a load more interesting. Throughout the entire three months of my gap year, not once did I find myself without something to do. Whistler is an amazing place and has so many different opportunities that get thrown your way alongside some of the best skiing and snowboarding you will ever find anywhere. If I had the chance to do this again I would jump at the chance.
Toby spent part of his gap year in Whistler on a Crystal International Academy ski instructor course: In one word, immense! I had the best three months of my life on this gap year doing what I love every day in one of the world's most prestigious resorts. Everyones skiing improved in all aspects of the sport; on piste, in powder, steeps, moguls or in the park. Going heli-skiing was the best day trip, being the only people on the mountain with just you and your mates' tracks on the hill. You can then look down on them from the chopper when you are going up again! Spend your gap year doing this!
After 8 years in Engineering I decided to take a career break and train to be a Ski Instructor. After selling my house and car, I booked the Crystal International course in Whistler after finding it on the internet. I expected to make some new friends, have fun skiing, learn new skills, and leave with some qualifications. The course surpassed all expectations. I’ve made some life long friends from so many different backgrounds. The skiing is the best in the world and Whistler Blackcomb resort is massive. The instructors are all really friendly and professional. The Crystal staff and Chalet facilities are great. Whilst here I’ve completed an avalanche awareness course, first aid course, level 1 ski instructor course and been heli-skiing, all of which I’d do again without hesitation. I will hopefully be using my qualifications in NZ this summer or in North America or Europe next winter.Tweet
